What about SSL accelerator hardware?

Do you really need an SSL accelerator?

Modern CPUs have enough computing power to encrypt and decrypt HTTPS traffic. Even the most costly operation, the SSL handshake at the beginning of each session, is no longer a problem for modern CPUs.

We therefore recommend to invest money in additional CPU power instead of buying dedicated SSL accelerator hardware: You actually get more for less.

What about support for net-HSM?

There could be a need to manage SSL certificates on a central plattform, called a "net HSM" (network attached hardware security module). Since Airlock 5.2 this feature is supported for some specific HSM modules compliant with the PKCS#11 standard.
